Inoui Editions foutas: nomadic elegance, tradition reimagined
Born on the shores of the Mediterranean, the fouta is a cloth of tradition. Its origins trace back to Tunisia, where this light textile has long accompanied the rituals of the hammam, worn wrapped around the waist as one emerged from the warm waters. In the 2000s, it conquered French beaches, drawing admirers with its lightness, its authentic weave and its rare versatility.
At Inoui Editions, the fouta becomes a creation in its own right. Imagined in our Paris studio, it is dressed in hand-drawn motifs: vivid in colour, imbued with poetry, reimagined nature and visual narratives. Each fouta carries a world within, where natural cotton becomes an artist's canvas.
A fouta of many lives
The fouta is not content with a single role. Light and natural, it moves from one use to another with disarming ease. Draped over the sand, it accompanies the swim with weightless grace. Tied at the waist, it becomes a pareo. At home, it turns into a tablecloth, a sofa throw, an airy curtain or a piece of interior decor: a textile of character that dresses every space with naturalness.
It is a free-spirited fouta: at once practical and decorative, as much at ease on a beach as in a contemporary or classic interior.
A generous format, a weave with character
Our foutas come in generous formats, from 100 x 190 cm up to 190 x 200 cm, designed for use on the beach as well as in interior decoration. Their lightness is their first quality: a fine, natural cloth, they slip easily into a bag and dry quickly, where a heavier textile would take twice the space.
Each piece is crafted in quality natural cotton, selected for its softness and suppleness. Its artisanal weave, inspired by traditional techniques, gives it that unique texture, lightly waffled, which catches the light and follows every movement. Some models are adorned with woven fringes, signature of the traditional fouta. Others adopt cleaner finishes, to slip discreetly into a contemporary or classic interior.

Each season, our studio imagines new motifs printed in silkscreen, conceived to reveal all the beauty of this supple and luminous cloth. Bold flat colours, fantastical creatures, dreamlike and multicoloured details: the fouta becomes a textile language in its own right.

It all depends on the use you have in mind. Our foutas come in several generous formats, from 100 x 190 cm up to 190 x 200 cm. The more compact sizes are perfect for the beach or travel. The bath towel, thicker and plusher, favours maximum absorption for a use specifically tied to bathing. With softness and attention. Wash separately, gentle cycle at 30°C maximum. Avoid fabric softener, which alters the absorbent properties of natural cotton. Air drying is recommended, to preserve the fibres and the fringes. The more it is washed, the softer and suppler it becomes. Avoid the tumble dryer, to protect the natural fibres and the finishes, fringes included.
