Pareo Selection
Pareos by Inoui Editions
A pareo isn’t just a piece of beachwear. At Inoui Editions, it becomes an illustrated piece, hand-drawn and screen-printed using traditional artisanal techniques. A work of art in its own right, to be tied around the waist, draped over the shoulders, and taken from the beach to the city.
What is a pareo?
The pareo comes from Polynesia. It’s a rectangular piece of fabric that’s tied around the body, at the waist or under the arms. Traditionally made from fine cotton or printed cotton fabric, it’s designed with soft, lightweight materials that move with the body and dry quickly in the sun.
That’s exactly what our summer scarves have in common. They come in the same generous sizes and are made from the same airy fabrics, cotton, linen, or silk. A simple gesture is all it takes to transform one into the other: tied at the waist, the scarf becomes a pareo.
Hand-drawn sarongs
Far from the typical summer prints, each Inoui Editions sarong features an original design. Imaginary wildlife, dreamlike gardens, sun-drenched palettes, compositions that blend painting and engraving. No two patterns are alike; none are reproduced identically. A collection like an art exhibition, where each piece asserts its own character.
A Thousand Ways to Tie It
Tied at the waist, a long skirt. Tied behind the neck, a dress. Draped from one shoulder to the opposite hip, an evening look. Worn over the shoulders of a dress, a shawl for summer evenings. Wrapped around the hair, a turban. One piece, a thousand ways to wear it.
From the Beach to the City
The pareo isn’t just for the beach. Worn as a skirt with flat sandals, it takes you through the day. Tied high on white jeans, it becomes an urban wardrobe staple. Draped over the shoulders at the end of the day, it’s perfect for dinner on a terrace. To think of the pareo as merely a summer accessory is to miss out on its true versatility.
The Choice of Fabrics
Cotton offers cool comfort on long days by the water. Linen sculpts the silhouette, its texture developing a patina over the seasons. Silk, a rarer choice, glides like a breath of air, perfect for evenings when the fabric should caress the skin. Three fabrics crafted with meticulous care, for pieces that endure through summers without ever going out of style.

Yes, as long as it shares the same style and material. Our lightweight scarves made of cotton, linen, or silk have the right dimensions and drape to wrap comfortably around the body.
Wear it as a skirt with flat sandals for a day out. Wear it as a dress tied at the nape of the neck for a summer lunch. Drape it over your shoulders as a shawl when night falls. Wear it as a long scarf with jeans. The Inoui pareo fits into your wardrobe all season long—not just for days by the water.
Cotton for the beach and softness. Linen for structure and a lively drape. Silk for evenings, when the fabric should glide over the body rather than cling to it. Three choices designed to lastn pieces you’ll keep and reach for every summer.
The waist tie remains the most classic style. For a dress, tie it behind the nape of the neck. For a more formal look, drape it diagonally from one shoulder to the opposite hip. The same square of fabric allows for all these variations.
The fouta is woven flat, is dense, and has fringes a tradition passed down from Mediterranean hammams. The pareo, on the other hand, is a thin, printed fabric designed to be tied. These two summer companions, each with its own distinct character, can also be explored in our fouta collection.
