Pareo Selection

Pareos by Inoui Editions

A pareo isn’t just a piece of beachwear. At Inoui Editions, it becomes an illustrated piece, hand-drawn and screen-printed using traditional artisanal techniques. A work of art in its own right, to be tied around the waist, draped over the shoulders, and taken from the beach to the city.

What is a pareo?

The pareo comes from Polynesia. It’s a rectangular piece of fabric that’s tied around the body, at the waist or under the arms. Traditionally made from fine cotton or printed cotton fabric, it’s designed with soft, lightweight materials that move with the body and dry quickly in the sun.

That’s exactly what our summer scarves have in common. They come in the same generous sizes and are made from the same airy fabrics, cotton, linen, or silk. A simple gesture is all it takes to transform one into the other: tied at the waist, the scarf becomes a pareo.
